Aftermath

Opening the door and putting Scott's stuff down on the floor. Moving to set down the little boy and smiling as he realized he was fast asleep on his shoulder. Carrying him into the living room and laying him on the couch. Kissing his little head before turning to speak to Dominic.
Not even bothering to knock he flings open Dom's door and isn't phased at the sight of his brother having sex with another female who he could care less about. "Dominic we need to talk." Waiting for Dom to acknowledge him and then getting mad when he just moans louder. "You son of a bitch!" Walking over to Dom and pushing him off the bed and looking at the girl. "You better get your shit and get out of here. I need to talk to my brother and he doesn't function when he smells a whore close by."
"What is wrong with you Hugh? Lisa, don't go. Let me see what this boy wants." Covering up and pushing Hugh out of his room, closing the door as they walk into the kitchen. "I can't believe you just did that. Did your balls finally drop or something? What ever is going on, better be damn well worth it!"
Motioning for Dom to follow him into the living room. "Anna, Anna was the girl in the hospital. She was sick and the boy is yours."
"Bullshit. She took the money and got an abortion. She was given alot of money to start a new life. She is just a money hungry bitch. She is probably laughing now, knowing she got even more of my money and made up a crazy scheme so we wouldn't come looking for her."
"Please tell me you are joking. Because if you are serious I might have to punch you in the face." Looking at him and feeling the anger build up inside him. "She died, I watched as she said goodbye to her son. I watched as they tried to save her, and I watched as she was pronounced dead. She didn't come up with a scheme. She couldn't go through with the abortion and left to start a life for her and her son. Your son!"
"I don't care what she did, I don't care where she went. I told her to get rid of the problem and she said she would. I gave her a substantial amount of money and we parted ways. Problem solved." Shaking his head. "Now, if she didn't hold up her end of the bargain, that is her fault. Not mine. I don't want children. I never have and I never will."
"Well, then what are you going to do about the little boy sleeping on the couch. We are all he has left."
Looking at Hugh with big eyes. "Excuse me? On the couch. You brought him here?" Turning to see a little boy sleeping soundly. "Well, then you have two choices. Your first choice, get him the fuck out of my house. Call someone to get him and take him. Or your second choice, keep him and get the fuck out of my life." Watching as Hugh almost falls. "I don't want him here, I will not raise some little misfit. He's not mine, he will never be mine. You took him, he's your problem now." Turning and walking back to the bedroom and opening the door. "Lisa, I have something for you."
Watching as his brother slams the door shut he waits, thinking Dom will change his mind. Hearing moans come from the room he gets upset. "Well, that didn't go at all like I planned." Picking Scott up and carrying him to his room he lays him on his bed and takes out a suitcase. "Well, I guess it's just going to be us. I don't know what to do. But, I can't let you down." Packing enough clothes to last him a few days he makes a few calls and finds a hotel to stay at for the night.
He takes his stuff and Scott's stuff out to his car and packs it in the trunk. Running back in the house he grabs some food to get him through until he can make it to the market in the morning. As he hears Dom's moans get louder he rushes to his bedroom to grab Scott, trying to avoid any other arguments. Picking up the sleeping child and grabbing his cell phone charger he walks out into the living room. Opening the front door as he hears Dom climax, whispering towards the room. "Hope she will love you Dom. No one else does anymore."
Closing the door behind him as he rushes to get in the car. Laying Scott down and covering him with a blanket before jumping in the front seat. As he drives away he looks back one last time hoping to see Dom running after him to stop them. But all he sees is darkness with a few dim street lights pointing to the emptiness.
******************************************************************************
Waking up to a little hand in his face he slowly opens his eyes. "Hey buddy. Are you hungry?" Throwing back the covers he fixes Scott a peanut butter sandwich and pours him a class of water. "Sorry that its not a proper breakfast but I didn't know if we'd have a fridge or not, so I just grabbed a few things that wouldn't spoil."
"It's okay, I like peanut butter. Can you cut my crusts off? Mommy did that for me." Smiling as he watches Hugh cut the crusts off and cut it in half. "You made triangles, that's how I like it!" Reaching for the plate and kneeling on the floor to eat.
"I have to take a shower and get ready. We'll get you a bath and dressed after that. I have to call a friend and look for somewhere to stay." Getting up and opening his suitcase. Grabbing some clothes then turning on cartoons for Scott. "I'll be right back. Don't leave this room and don't open the door if anyone knocks." Seeing the little boy nod he heads towards the bathroom and takes the quickest shower he's ever taken. After getting dressed he starts the tub for Scott before walking out to find him something to wear.
"Scott, are you done eating?" Seeing Scott point to an empty plate and cup before standing to throw it away. "Good job. Thank you for cleaning up after yourself. Okay, this is your stuff. I don't know what you have or what is clean. Will you come help me find you an outfit?"
"I can show you what's here. I have socks in this pocket, undies in this one, pants here and shirts here. It's cold so we didn't pack my summer stuff. And I only have this pair of shoes. The rest are at mommy's friends house. I don't know where she lives but its a long drive from here." Watching as Hugh picks him out an outfit he pulls an envelope out of his bag. "I was supposed to give this to my daddy. But he doesn't want me. So I guess I should give it to you."
"Scott, that's not true. He is stupid, he doesn't know what to think right now. I am still in a bit of shock myself." Opening the envelope to avoid meeting the little boy's eyes. "What is this?"
"I don't know. It's stuff my mommy said I needed to carry in case she didn't come home." Grabbing his clothes and walking towards the bathroom. "I don't like closed doors, so I am going to leave this cracked a little." Walking into the bathroom and getting undressed, he climbs into the tub and uses the soap and shampoo containers as boats. Happily playing in the bath.
Sifting through the papers he shakes his head and tucks them back in the envelope. He calls Mia first and explains everything to her, then waits as she runs down to hand the phone to Jackson so he can retell the same story. They both offer help and a place to stay, but knowing he didn't want to stay there he thanked them and promised he'd come by soon to show off his nephew.
Looking through his phone's contact list he sees Joey's name. With a press of a button he waits as her phone rings. On the 3rd ring he was getting ready to hang up and he hears her sweet voice. "Hey Hugh, how are you today?"
"Hey Joey. Are you busy today? I have a little situation and I need some help." As he tells Joey the whole story he gets sidelined by her eagerness to help him.
"I can sleep in Nate's room, he's rarely here. If he is here I don't mind crashing on the couch, or I can sleep at Lizzy's. We can make it work until you find something. Come over today. I will have my room all ready for you."
"Joey, sweetie I can't take your room. I will find us a place to stay. I just need you to watch Scott for me so I can apartment hunt."
"I will watch him and you can stay here until you find something. Friends don't let each other sleep in hotels. Not when they have room for them. No more arguing. You know where I live, come over. I'll be expecting you. And, I don't know what you are looking to spend but, there is an apartment for rent here. It's small, but it's a start."
"You are awesome Joe! I will get us ready and head there shortly." Hanging up the phone and making sure all their stuff was gathered together. "Hey guy, are you all clean yet? We have to check out soon."
"I am getting out. I will be out there in a minute." Drying off as best he can he pulls on his undies and slides his shirt on. Getting mad when it won't go on right he walks out to Hugh. "Can you help me?"
Walking over to Scott and seeing that he is still wet he grabs a towel and dries him off and slides his shirt on. Then helps him pull up his pants and puts on his socks. "Do you know how to tie your shoes?" Seeing the little guy look embarrassed he grins. "It's okay, I will help you. Your dad couldn't tie his shoes until he was 7." Smiling as he ties his other shoe and stands him up. "Go get your dirty clothes and put them in that bag by the door. then check the room for anything we might have left behind. We are going to my friend Joey's house."
As they walk to the car Scott walks beside him quietly. Climbing in the back seat and getting buckled. He watches as they drive, paying more attention to his surroundings then to Hugh. As they pull up to an apartment building he sighs and gets out. "Is this another person who won't want me?"
"Scott, why do you keep saying that. You said it about your dad and now my friend Joey." Looking at the little boy.
"I heard what he was saying last night. I wasn't sleeping the whole time, but I didn't want to get up because everyone thought I was asleep."
"I'm sorry you heard that. Like I said I am sure he didn't mean it, he's just in shock." Smiling as he tries to reassure the child.
"It's okay, I guess I just thought it would be different."
Hugging him, then getting them ready to go to Joey's. Feeling like a schmuck as they head upstairs but calming down the minute he walked in. Joey just had this gentle way about her.
"You don't have very much stuff, you need me to help you carry the rest up?" Joey heads out of the apartment but gets called back by Hugh.
"No, I didn't bring anything else. I tried to get out of there before Dominic had anything else to say. I will go back and get more. I am just not in the mood to see him right now." Following Joey into her room and setting their stuff down.
"No worries! I'll go get some stuff for you." Smiling as she helps him unpack. "Luke and Nate know you are here, so don't feel bad about staying with us. Nate is going to be in the states for a few days, so I can crash in his room."
"Thanks Joey! Oh where are my manners. Joey, this is Scott." Watching as Joey bends down and smiles at him.
"Hi Scott, you sure are a handsome little guy." Holding her hand out she smiles at Hugh. :I was going to fix some tea, do you want to help me?"
Smiling back at her he takes her hand. "I can help? Okay, let's make tea."
Hugh watches as they walk towards the kitchen. Thankful to have a friend to count on. As he gets settled Joey brings him some tea and convinces him to give her the keys to his apartment. Getting the directions she calls Lizzy and feels better knowing she has a friend going with her.
"Call me if you need me, but Dominic is rarely home in the mornings. Just use the suitcase in the closet and get what you can. I will get the rest later." Hugging the girls and then sitting on the couch to watch tv with Scott. "I will call the lady about the apartment in a few. Wish me luck."
Joey and Lizzy wish him luck the turn to giggle at each other as they run out of the apartment.
