[Skyler] *swinging the door wide open with a bright smile* Almost *she says a little breathlessly as she lets him in* Just let run and get *running through the room, her gauzy skirt floating behind her she grabs a pair of shoes and puts on a bright pink pea-coat and throws her purse over her shoulder. Skipping through the room putting on her shoes as she tries to walk she makes her way back to him. Grabbing a barrette and clasping her hair back where it had been falling in her eyes she grins* Ok. Sorry. Ready now.
[Nate] *chuckling* Well, you look fantastic. But hang on, *leaning over her, unclasping the barrette and sliding the loose piece of hair in before closing it* There, now you look even better. *holding out his hand to her, feeling her small hand in his as he walks out with her, holding her purse as she locks the door with her free hand* You don't mind helping me shop today?
[Skyler] Are you kidding me? A chance to both shop and decorate. Plus I get to spend time with you? Best day ever! *laughing as they walk down the stairs together, secretly swooning that he was holding her hand* I can't wait, really. I'm hoping that we can get some color in your room that doesn't consist entirely of basketball posters. Maybe a piece of actual artwork for one of your walls.
[Nate] I have that painted basketball, that doesn't count? *pretending to pout* Okay, actual art is okay, as long as it isn't some cheesy sculpture of an animal. Because to be honest, those creep me out a bit. *smiling at her* I still can't believe of all the buildings in London. I am moving into the same building as you. It will be great to have a friend so close to me.
[Skyler] I know! It's like fate or something. *giggling as they reach the front door and seeing the rain outside* Well *reaching up and shaking some droplets from his hair* Judging by this I'm guessing you still can't find your umbrella? *reaching into her purse and pulling out a sky blue umbrella covered in butterflies and daisies in varying colors and opening it up as they walk outside* Ok, no sculptures of animals. I agree they're a bit creepy. Topiaries too, topiaries freak me right out. Hmm, how about a nice painting of a unicorn in front of a waterfall? *seeing his face she laughs* Kidding! I'm kidding. We'll find something perfect. ]
[Nate] So for your birthday you want a room full of mini topiaries, got it! For you I will make it happen. *laughing loudly* If you see any baby stuff in our venture, let me know. I know girls are naturally better at spotting that stuff, must be something in your ovaries or something. *seeing her look, he smiles sweetly* What?
[Skyler] I swear to you Nathan, if you get me a single topiary I'm going to fill your room with spiders. And I'm going to laugh. *looking at him with one arched eyebrow* And it's not that there's something in our ovaries that causes us to see baby things, it's something you're lacking. Like, fashion sense or manners.
[Nate] Well, yeah you're right. Dad never raised me to have manners, its why I still eat like a cave man. *smiling and shaking his head* Okay, you know that's not true. Jonnie is pregnant again, so I want to get her something. You should come see her, she loved singing with you. Maybe you can convince her not to give it up, because right now she isn't doing anything. I don't even think she has a piano any more.
[Skyler] She is? Oh my goodness that's brilliant! Ok, we absolutely must find something for them, and for little Ty too. Wow, it's been so long since I saw him, I'll bet he's all grown up now. I promise I'll go see everyone soon, I've just been enjoying spending *pauses as he turns and looks into a window of a furniture store, finishing her sentence almost silently* time alone with you. *she walks up to the window with him* You know the great thing about these stores is they have doors, and you're allowed to actually go inside out of the rain and look at things. Ingenious right?
[Nate] No way? We can go inside? I never knew! *smiling he opens the door for her and then takes the wet umbrella and holds it.* I don't want you to get all wet. So, point me towards the bedroom stuff. *walking behind her smiling as the curls bounce, then seeing her turn right looks ahead and spots a tall dresser* Hey Sky, do you like this? I love the color of it, I think its mahogany.
[Skyler] *walking over to the dresser and running one hand down it* I like it. Mahogany, very manly. *winking at him* And it goes well with the forest green you love so much. I'm guessing that your new bedding is going to be mostly green?
[Nate] *nodding* You know me so well! I left everything at my dad's so I am going to get new everything today, but I liked my old set, wonder if I can find something similar at one of the stores here? *noticing more mahogany wood he walks over and finds a bed and set of night stands* Look at that, I want the whole set! I just need something to put my TV on and we are done in here.
[Skyler] We'll find something for you. *sitting on the bed and laying back against the sample pillows* Very comfy, you should go for this mattress too, it's springy. *crossing her feet together and looking up at the roof of the store* I think that the little place over the road has bedding and stuff, we can go there next.
[Nate] I am thinking coffee next, we need to stay warm. All this rain on a day we are shopping. Boo! *smiling and taking a few steps back, he looks around and runs and jumps on the mattress next to her* Sorry, I needed to give it a test. *bouncing a bit then laying down* I like it, its soft yet has a little firmness to it. *looking at her he smiles* And it comes with a pretty girl, oh wait, you are here with the clown jumping on the beds. *winking he pats her leg and then gets out of the bed* I am going to go tell them I want this set. Feel free to keep looking around if you want. I'll come find you when I'm done.
[Skyler] *stands up from the bed and watches him walk away* Sure, I'll just keep looking round. That's what friends are for after all. *she wanders around a bit and find a nice television table that she thinks will go well with his bedroom set, sitting right next to a entertainment center disguised as a wardrobe. She ponders them swaying in place, her mind actively working on a new song as she twirls her hair in her fingers*
[Nate] *looking around he sees her legs and then looks up seeing her lost in thought* I'm done. They are delivering it later today. Seems that isn't the whole set, they have another dresser and then a wardrobe, so I went ahead and got the set and I get a floor lamp for free! *walking over and helping her up* So, coffee?
[Skyler] *standing with him* Absolutely, I love coffee. Especially at this time of year cause they have all those fun flavors, I think Amici's has the pumpkin spice latte. Oh! And pumpkin bread! We've got to get pumpkin bread! *as they walk out of the store she continues jabbering* Which lamp did you get? *he points and she smiles* That's a nice one, you've got to get a different shade for it though, that's absolutely hideous. What were they thinking? I'll help you find one that'll go with your room.
[Nate] *going outside ahead of her he opens her umbrella and holds it at the door to keep her dry* I could eat a whole pumpkin loaf! *smiling at her he sighs* I can't believe that it is almost Halloween. I think I might go out with Ty, but I am not sure. Now that I've switched schools I need to find out our practice schedule. Sometimes I can't believe I just left my life to be out here closer to my sisters, and my nephew.
[Skyler] That's really cute, I love that you came out here to be near your sisters and nephew. It's sweet. *squeezing his hand* How's your dad holding up? First your mom, then Jonnie and Ty moving out here, then you. It's got to be hard on him.
[Nate] Jonnie and I are trying to get him to move here too. I think him finding out she is having another baby will do it. Right now I take Ty home to visit every couple of weeks so that keeps him happy. He is still upset about mom dying. I think that is why he is unwilling to move. *shrugging* I won't force him to do anything he isn't ready for.
[Skyler] I still can't believe she's gone. I wish I had kept in touch after I came back home. She was so kind to me when I was staying with you all. *seeing his sad face she feels bad and decides to change the subject* What are you going to be for Halloween? You're wearing a costume right? You absolutely have to wear a costume!
[Nate] I think I am going to be a basketball player, again. What? You look surprised. I am always a basketball player. *seeing the coffee shop ahead he smiles* We can discuss this inside where it's warm, and dry. *going inside he takes the umbrella again, and stands next to her in line, playing with her jacket*
[Nate] That's what Ty told me too. He said I can't do that again. I guess I will have to look and see what I can find. *breathing deeply* Wow, it does smell amazing in here. *looking at her and then looking down a minute before looking back up*
[Skyler] While we're out today we can go to the costume store *biting her lip and twirling her hair in her fingers* I mean, if you want to. I have to go anyway to get my costume. I'm going to be Alice I think. I don't know I might do something else, but I've always felt very Wonderland.
[Nate] Sure, we can do that. Maybe I will get creative and wear a real costume this year. Since my basketball outfit isn't up to snuff. *winking* But, I can't do the white bunny or anything. You know, in case you were going to ask. *chuckling and taking a bite of his pumpkin bread* Oh man, it's perfect. I think I might get a couple of slices to go.
[Skyler] *blushing pink* I wouldn't ask you to be the White Rabbit with me. Now the Hatter on the other hand ... *stopping and laughing* So, no animal costumes, and no animal statuary. Have you got something against stuffed animals too?
[Nate] *smiling* Why are you going to give me one? Cause if so I might have to make an exception. *chuckling* No, stuffed animals are okay, so are real animals. So, forgive me for asking because we are friends and stuff, but are you dating or anything? Because we always seem to avoid this subject, but when you sent me that CD to listen to, it was full of cute songs about dating and love. I thought someone had seen how wonderful you were and snagged you up.
[Skyler] *looking intently into her cup, her cheeks flaming* No, I'm not seeing anyone. I was for awhile but it didn't work out. That's about a year ago that he and I split. *using the tip of her spoon to make a whipped cream heart in the top of her drink, still concentrating on not looking at him* What about you?
[Nate] *shaking his head* I like someone but she isn't the least bit interested in me. I think I spent too much time in the friend zone. But I try to do little things to show interest. Maybe one day she'll see them. *looking down at his cup and blowing into it*
[Skyler] I'm sure she will. I can't imagine any girl resisting you for long. *laughing and tossing her hair over her shoulder, trying to cover the pain of finding out he liked someone else* And if she doesn't well that's just her bad luck, at least you've got someone to hang out with to go furniture shopping. I'll tell you though, if you like someone, you absolutely must have a gorgeous costume. Girls love that nonsense.
[Nate] Apparently this girl I like, she likes men in Mad Hatter costumes. *feeling the red in his cheeks* No shit, did I just say that outloud?
[Skyler] *looking up at him confused and then looking down at her plate again* Now see, now you're just messing with me Nate, and that's not very nice at all. *breaking her bread into little bits and putting a tiny piece in her mouth, waiting almost not breathing for his reply*
[Nate] Sky, I am a bit of a teaser. You know me well enough to know that I am not a jerk. I have liked you for awhile. I just didn't think I had a chance with you because, well look at you. You are beautiful. When you walk in front of me I watch your curls bounce, I notice your crooked smile when I say something stupid, but you have a wider grin when you actually think I am funny. And your eyes, you have the most beautiful shaped eyes. I hate when you look away from me, even if I am the reason you are hiding your eyes in the first place. *setting his hand on hers* Since we ran into each other again I have found every excuse I can find to spend time with you. I thought I should just tell you now, so you knew. Once my room is set up, I will not have any more good valid excuses have you to myself.
[Skyler] *shaking her head as he talks, looking up at him when he puts his hand on hers* You mean that don't you? *at his nod and shy smile she breaks into a wide grin and jumps into his lap on his chair, straddling him and kissing him, a neverending kiss wrapping her arms around his neck. When she pulls away the people are the nearest tables laugh and clap and she sits back down, cheeks on fire* You have no idea how long I've waited for you to say that.
[Nate] Are you serious? *licking his lips, tasting her lip gloss* I was hoping you'd notice before now, but I simply couldn't hold it in anymore. *taking her hand and kissing it then lacing his fingers with hers* Why the heck did I wait so long to admit it? *seeing the customers still looking at them he whispers* Well, from now on you are my girl and I will treat you better than anyone has before. *speaking with his normal voice again* Let me go order some pumpkin bread to go, and I will be right back. *he starts towards the counter and turns around to kiss her again, then goes to the counter and orders*
[Skyler] *watching him as he orders the pumpkin bread and smiles, crossing her legs and shaking her foot while twirling her hair in her fingers, finishing her coffee. When he gets back she stands and kisses him again* So, we're off to find bedding?
[Nate] *nodding* Yes, something that will match my new bedroom set. Hopefully something that is similar to my old set. *taking her by the hand* And you have to give it your seal of approval.
[Skyler] *walking with him out of the store and smiling when he opens the umbrella again, making sure she doesn't get wet by the continuing downpour* If we find one we should look for another umbrella for you, something a little more manly than mine *laughing*
[Nate] I don't mind holding it for you. Umbrellas are nothing. I would carry your purse in public too. Its the sweet little things I can do to show you I really care. *smiling at her and then looking ahead to see the rain drip off the ends of the umbrella* I picked a nice day to go shopping didn't I? Sorry about this.
[Skyler] *blushing* You do very well at showing me you care. And I love the rain, don't apologize for it. If I didn't like it I would have said we should drive. I've always liked walking in the rain though, it makes everything so clean and good smelling. *gesturing to a linen store* Here we are. *they walk into the store and over to the bedding* Oh, here's some, it's very you. *lifting a chocolate brown and forest green comforter*
[Nate] *feeling the fabric and smiling* Hey look there are sheets to match. Do you like the stripes or the plaid?
[Skyler] I think plaid for you. It's good and strong. And the fabric is super soft. I have some sheets made out of that same kind of cotton in my room. *giving him a shy smile* Maybe you'll get to see them sometime.
[Nate] *smiling* Hey now. *winking at her and kissing her softly* I think I want the green pillows. I don't think the brown matches, different color lot I guess. *grabbing all the bedding and accessories* Now let's go look at curtains.
[Skyler] *they wander through the store and get all of the accessories for his room, including a nice forest scene painting for one of his walls. After the fabric store they make their way to the costume shop, looking at all of the wonderland costumes first* Why do all of the Alice costumes have to be so trampy? *looking at yet another mini-skirt* Can't a girl want to be a nice Alice?
[Nate] *looking at all the skimpy costumes* There has to be something in here, something better than these. Did you look all through them? *flipping through all the Alice costumes* Oh, wait. I think I found something. *motioning her over to him*
[Skyler] *looking where he was and finding a more realistic Alice costume, the skirt falling a bit higher than her knees* Oh that's much better. I love it, now to find something for you.
[Nate] *taking her costume and holding it* Okay, find me something spectacular. But I have to agree to it. No more going as clowns or anything. It's no fun. *smiling* I could go as a model. *winking* Showing off my abs and what not.
[Skyler] *grinning and looking around the shop* Hmmm, what you're saying is I can dress you up anyway I like? What about ... *flipping through the men's costumes and giggling when she comes across something* this! *pulling out a prince costume* You can be Prince Charming. Not that you aren't already.
[Nate] But you aren't going as Juliet. So that makes it less tempting. But, I could do the Prince Charming thing. *laughing and looking at her with a big grin*
[Skyler] *shifting her weight and pulling some hair behind her ear, giving him a shy smile* I mean I could go as Juliet. I didn't know if you wanted to match, but I can't see you as anyone in Wonderland. You don't really put off that homicidal maniac vibe.
[Nate] I think you would make a beautiful Juliet. How about this. Let's look at the costumes. If you find one you like then we can do that. If not, you go as Alice and I will go as something different. *leading her back up the aisle*
[Skyler] *her eyes lighting up* Really? Nobody's ever wanted to have a matching costume with me. You're just great, did you know that? *giggling and skipping with him back up the aisle, looking through the costumes until she finds the perfect dress* Well look at that, Romeo and Juliet it is. Although without that messy ending. *holding the dress against her and spinning around* What do you think?
[Nate] *smiling as he looks at her* It looks beautiful! Oh wait, the dress? The dress is pretty okay too. *kissing her and then setting the Alice costume back on the hook* Come on Sky, I'll treat. *going up to the register and holding her as they rang up the costumes, paying and then taking the bags and looking at her* Looks like the rain stopped. Good thing, since my hands are a bit full. *winking at her*
[Skyler] *opening the door for him and smiling* You know, I can carry some of those things. *laughing and shaking her head when he refuses* Well fine, at least let's go to your place, they should be delivering your furniture soon, and we can get your bedroom all set. Thank goodness for same day delivery! *walking with him back to their building and up to his apartment. When he shuts the door behind them she promptly removes the bags from his hands and puts her arms around his neck, jumping up and wrapping her legs around his waist, laying a heavy kiss on him*
[Nate] *carrying her across the room and setting her down on the couch covering her with kisses as he goes* Do you have to go home or anything? Or if you need to call your mom I can let you use my cell.
[Skyler] *peeking at the time on the clock over his shoulder* Nope, I've got time. She's not going to be home for a few hours yet. After work she likes to stop and have a drink. I'll give her a call a bit later. *leaning down and kissing him again, settling in for a good time kissing the boy she had liked for years*
