Mommy Dearest..

[Lizzy] *counting her tips and hanging her apron up* We're all cleaned up out here Andy. How are you back there?
[Andy] All set, ready to go when you are. *smiling at her and wiping his hands on a towel*
[Lizzy] Actually, Luke's picking me up, we're going to hang out tonight and let you and Joey have some alone time. You never get to be on your own with Nate and Sky in her place and me in ours. *hearing the bell ring* See, there he is now. *poking her head out to the dining room* We're back here.
[Lucas] *walking in smiling, still in his warm up gear from practice* Hey you two. How was work?
[Andy] It was good. Busy though, all the holiday shoppers out and about. Apparently shopping works up quite the appetite.
[Lizzy] Yeah, but at least they were in a generous mood. Dinner's on me tonight mate. *taking her hair out of the ponytail and putting on a sweater and a headband* How was practice?
[Lucas] *chuckling as he looks at Andy* Yeah, they need the energy to go out there and beat the crowds, or power shop like females like to do. *turning to Lizzy* Dinner on you? Alright! *pretending to cheer* Practice was rough, I am a bit out of shape. I forgot how much coach likes to see us run. But, its official. I am now a member of the Ravens basketball team. Hank hurt his ACL, so the spot goes to me.
[Lizzy] Congratulations! I know you've been wanting that spot! *hugging him but backing away quickly* I bet you aren't as out of shape as you think you are. Alright Andy, I'm off. I'll see you at home in about... *looking at Luke* What three or four hours?
[Andy] Have a good time guys, I think Joey and I are going to curl up and watch The Princess Bride, so if you want to join us for that later you're welcome to. We're going to get some food first so... in about two hours or so we'll start the movie.
[Lucas] *looking at Lizzy* That sounds about right. *smacking Andy on the back* Go ahead and start the movie, we'll join you before it's over. Tell Joe to make me some iced tea. She makes it just perfect. Plus she loves me and won't say no. *chuckling as he puts his hands in his pockets* So, you ready then?
[Lizzy] *grabbing her purse* Yeah, I'm set. *hugging Andy* I'll see you in a bit! *she follows Luke out of the diner and they turn toward the river* Any idea what you want for dinner?
[Lucas] Maybe because I spent the day in the states, or maybe because I just really want it. But, how do you feel about pizza? *pulling her in the closest alley and kissing her, pushing his body against her and whispering* Besides, that still gives us a few minutes to run up to my room and play before we have to go do the whole broken hearted charade.
[Lizzy] *pulling his head back down to hers and kissing him back, wrapping one leg around him* Who says we need your room?
[Lucas] *looking around* We don't need my room, we could do it here if there wasn't a cop standing right over there. *pointing him out to Lizzy* Let's go before we get in trouble. *grabbing her hand and leading her back on the sidewalk* Besides, he missed you today. He said you have to make it up to him. *winking at her*
[Lizzy] You know, your man bits are very talkative. *giggling* And quite demanding. *winking and skipping ahead of him toward their building* You've got to catch me first.
[Lucas] *running after her and laughing as he almost catches her, seeing a familiar face he stops in his tracks* What are you doing here?
[Peggy] Sonny Boy! *walking toward Luke as if to hug him*
[Lizzy] *backtracking, running to stand in front of Lucas and putting her hands on her hips* What are you doing here? I thought you'd gone back to Oz by now.
[Peggy] Sassy little wench you've got there son. *laughing at Lizzy*
[Lucas] *moving Lizzy behind him* Don't stand to close, she is a virus. *looking at his mother* Why are you here? Why aren't you home with Jerry? Tyler isn't here, he's not coming home anytime soon. And, then there's the whole I hate you thing. So go away.
[Peggy] I'm having a vacation, is that alright with you? *shaking her head* No wonder your dad always had to punish you, you've got a smart fucking mouth, you know that? Alls I want is to spend some time with you while I wait for your brother to come home. Or is that too much to ask of mister high and mighty too good for family?
[Lucas] *looking at her with hate in his eyes* My father never had to punish me. That horrible excuse of a human being that you are married to will NEVER be my father. You are mad to even suggest such a thing knowing he almost killed me. Not that you cared you bitch. *stepping closer to her* You, you go home. We don't need or want you in our lives.
[Peggy] *taking a step closer to him too* I'd like to see you try and make me. I think I'm gonna stick around. At least until my good son comes home to welcome me back into his life.
[Lizzy] *tugging on Lucas's hand* Come one Luke, let's just get away from her, she's not worth it.
[Lucas] *squeezing her hand* I am sure you'll be surprised when your good son comes home. He doesn't like you either. *looking at Lizzy* You're right, let's go.
[Peggy] Yeah? *watching as Lucas turns away* Well then why did his wife invite me to his wedding? He wants me in his life, and you're just a jealous little snot, just like you've always been!
[Lizzy] He didn't even know she invited you, and when he finds out he's going to be upset. He specifically asked her not to invite you. I bet she didn't either, I bet you just read about it online and that's why you were late!
[Peggy] You can just shut your mouth you little bitch.
[Lucas] You know what mom, you can go to hell. This is my best friend, and I won't allow you to talk to her like that. *challenging her to say something else*
[Peggy] Oh I see, now that your brother's sloppy seconds finally rejected you, you've found someone else? Careful, this one might fall for him too, and then where would you be? The lonely pathetic boy begging for attention from another woman who doesn't love him?
[Lucas] *laughing loudly* I seem to recall a time when you thought Jonnie was my soul mate. Why the change of heart. Because she and Tyler love each other? She loved me too, and on some level she still does. So let's not go there. As far as Lizzy and I are concerned, we know where we stand with each other. She loves me in her own way too. *smiling at Lizzy then looking back at his mom* But, I forget. You think love involves being beat up by your controlling husband. You forgot what it was like to really be loved, the way daddy loved you. How he bought you flowers and chased you around to steal a kiss. When you remember that love, then we can talk.
[Lizzy] She's broken Luke, she's sad and hurtful and angry, and nothing you say is going to help. One day she'll find her way and regret the time she lost with her boys. But that day is not going to be today.
[Peggy] *shaking her head* Y'all are just kids, thinking you know what you're talking about. You both think you're so damn smart. You're daddy, who used to chase me around for a kiss, he left. It's his fault I had to go marry the first guy that asked. And he did his best with two boys who hated him because he wasn't their actual dad. But do you appreciate what he did for you? Not at all! I can't believe I raised two such ungrateful boys.
[Lucas] Daddy died! He didn't leave you because he wanted to. What is wrong with you?
[Peggy] That's right! He died, and he left me all alone to raise you two. And he didn't leave me with any money, or love or hope. I did the best I could, but you still hate me for it. So you just stand there being all holier than thou, but I hope you never have to make due like I did. *the anger in her eyes turning to hurt for a moment* When's TyTy coming home Luke?
[Lizzy] We don't know when they're coming home, they haven't planned it out. *looking at her gently* I'll ask him to send you an owl when he gets home if you want. I can't be sure he will, but I'll tell him.
[Peggy] *glaring at her for a moment before looking back at Lucas*
[Lucas] *stepping forward and hugging his mother, holding her tightly for a minute and speaking softly* Tyler and I loved you, we never felt neglected until you brought Jerry in our home. We would have rather done without everything then be abused for no reason. You know he hated us because we were reminders of dad. *moving out of the hug and standing there looking at her* He's the reason you won't get to know your grandchildren. Tyler and Jonnie agree on that. I also know she didn't invite you. How'd you find out mom?
[Peggy] I have the right, the right to watch out for my kids. I keep an eye, I read the fan magazines, the websites, even that slice of crazy The Quibbler. Just in case they have something to say about my kids.
[Lucas] That's not keeping an eye out on us. That is creepy and almost illegal. Half the stuff they say isn't even true.
[Peggy] Well it got me here didn't it? Even if I was late. *looking at Lucas* Look kid, I'm tired so I'm going back to the hotel. I'm going to be here until your brother gets home, or at least calls me. So I suggest you call and tell him I'm here get my drift?
[Lizzy] We'll let him know. *tugging on Luke's hand again* There's nothing else to say here Luke, come on, let's go.
[Lucas] *putting his arm around Lizzy and looking back at his mother for a minute then walking away* You are right, there is nothing else to say. She will never get it. She will never see what Jerry turned her into.
[Peggy] *watches as the two walk away from her, and then she turns and heads back to her hotel*
[Lizzy] *squeezing his hand* I'm sorry you had to go through that. Shall we just head to dinner?
[Lucas] I'm not really hungry. *looking ahead as they walk* We can go get you some food, but if I eat I will get a stomach ache.
[Lizzy] That's fine, I ate at work. What will make you feel better? Wanna go watch the Princess Bride with Andy and Joey? *looking at her watch* They should just be getting ready to start.
[Lucas] *looking at her sadly* I guess, seeing as how the one thing I love doing with you is on hold. I have never been kicked out of the mood before, I don't enjoy it. *frowning*
[Lizzy] *giggling and blushing* No worries, once the movie's over I'm sure we'll both be in the mood again. And since Joey and Andy are both such lightweights these days, they'll be asleep soon enough. *bumping his hip* Come, on, let's go watch a silly comedy.
[Lucas] *smiling* We can go watch a movie after spending time with Andy and Joe. *chucking*
[Lizzy] Absolutely. *laughing as they make their way to the apartment building*
