[Joey] *walking up the path to EJ's and smiling as the plan to surprise them is still in tact. skipping up the steps and knocking on the door*
[Ryan] *trying to cook dinner for himself and EJ looks up at the sound of the knock on the door* EJ get that. Are you expecting anyone?
[EJ] Not at all. *walks over to the door and opens it grinning when he sees that it's Joey* Hey! Come in *opens the door wider for her, moving out of the way*
[Joey] *hugging him* Hey you! I wanted to surprise you. Is that okay? I mean I don't want to bother you if you have plans.
[EJ] *returns her hug* No plans at all. And you are always a welcome surprise.
[Joey] *grinning* Did I hear Ryan? I haven't seen him in forever.
[EJ] He's trying to cook *chuckles* It's not going very well. He's really lost without Bella.
[Joey] *frowning* Did she have to go back to the hospital?
[EJ] *smiles* No she's in Hawaii with Liam.
[Joey] That is awesome! Good for Bella, she deserves some good times. *looking towards the kitchen* I can help if he needs it.
[EJ] *laughs at the stream of curses coming from the kitchen* Yeah he might need it.
[Joey] *giggling as she walks into the kitchen* Hey Ryan! *running and hugging him* I came to visit Evan. But, I think I might be able to help you out too.
[Ryan] *gives her a side hug and chuckles* Hey Joey! How's your dad? *looking at the wreck of food in his pan and then back at her* I was getting ready to just order a pizza.
[Joey] Daddy's good. He spends alot of time with Simon at the pub. I think he met a lady, but I think he is afraid to tell me. *smiling* Okay, How about I cook for you and Evan? This is ruined, but I can cook something else. I don't mind.
[Ryan] *chuckles* Okay but let Evan help. I mean Izzy isn't going to be living with me or him for the rest of her life. We have to learn to feed ourselves.
[Joey] Are you sure that is a good idea? We tend to start food fights for no reason. *winking at EJ* I am taking some classes at the university and oddly enough, in order to graduate with a degree in restaurant management I need cooking credits. I have been learning a few things. I can teach you two if you want?
[EJ] No you start food fights for no reason. *chuckles*
[Ryan] Can't be any worse then him and Izzy blowing up my living room hexing each other.
[Joey] *sticking her tongue out at EJ* I do not! *smiling at Ryan* They blew up you living room? Oh my gosh!
[Ryan] *sits down at the table* Yeah they did. They were arguing over Izzy's boyfriend this time last year and started hexing one another and blew up the living room of my flat above the book store.
[Joey] *frowning* Evan, that's not nice. She's your best friend, even if you don't like him you shouldn't try to hex Bella. *shaking her head*
[EJ] She started it. And the guy was a douche he ended up cheating on her anyway.
[Joey] I think I met him. That singer? *seeing EJ nod* Yeah, I know who you mean. But you can't control who your friends fall in love with. You just have to hope it turns out okay. *turning to open the fridge and then checking the cabinets* Okay, so I can do something simple like shepards pie, or I can do something more elaborate. What are you guys in the mood for?
[EJ] I know but you don't know Bella the way I do she's so stubborn. Simple is good.
[Ryan] *shakes his head and pours himself a scotch rocks and sits down in the sitting room*
[Joey] Okay, I need you to cook the meat for me, because I hate it. I will do everything else. *handing him a package of ground beef, while she gets everything else out and smiles at him* You know, I think it's cute how protective you are of Bella. Maybe one day you will be like that with me.
[EJ] *open the ground beef and puts it in the pan to start browning it* I can be that way with you now. But I don't think you'll like it cause I think your boyfriend now is a jerk. *turning to look at her*
[Joey] That's not nice, but you are not stretching the truth really. I thought he was a jerk at first too. But, there is something about him. *looking over at him, biting her lip so she isn't tempted to remind him he left* Maybe one day you two will be friends.
[EJ] Yeah sure. *looking over at her then back at the meat*
[Joey] *smiling as she walks up behind him and wraps her hands around him, resting her head against his back* All that matters is we are friends, and that you are as happy to see me, as I am to see you.
[EJ] *closes his eyes, and puts his hand over hers* I'm always happy to see you Joey. Any day I get to spend with you is a great day.
[Joey] *staying in the hug a little longer* And, any day I spend with you is a great day for me too. You know what, I still love you. For whatever it's worth.

[Joey] *smiling as she lets him go* I know you do. *making the mashed potatoes* So, any plans for the holidays? Going to the states to see your parents or are you sticking around here?
[EJ] Sticking around. Bella should be back from her holiday by then and I know she'll want to do something big. *looks around the kitchen and into the sitting room* It's the reason Ryan hasn't decorated yet, he knows she'll want to do it when she gets home.
[Joey] Well, if she isn't back in time we can decorate when he is at work. Just so he has something in here. We can save the big stuff for Bella to do. When is she supposed to be home? Do you know?
[EJ] Next week it when she told Sirius she'd be back to get her puppy. So I'm assuming then unless she and Liam are planning to go some where else after she gets her puppy.
[Joey] Awww, I am sure that means she will be home. She wouldn't stay away from her family for the holidays.
[EJ] *chuckles* If her boyfriend or *makes hands quotes* Friend *rolls his eyes* Yeah right wants her to go meet his family she might. *chuckles*
[Joey] Have you met Liam? He is totally a good guy! I swear. Jackson seems to keep good company.
[EJ] Yes I've met him. I wasn't rolling my eyes about Liam. I like Liam. I was rolling my eyes about Bella. Jeez. *chuckles*
[Joey] *smacking him* I know you were.. I am not that dense silly! *draining the beef and pouring it into a dish, adding corn, then adding the potatoes. Okay, let's find something to do while this bakes. *smiling at him* Any ideas?
[EJ] *thinks* Hmmm I don't have any cake *winks at her* We can watch something or play a video game? Or just sit and talk like we used to whatever you want to do.
[Joey] I think I like the idea of just talking. I miss that. It was so much easier then. *taking him by the hand and walking past Ryan to go to the living room* So, what are we going to talk about? *smiling*
[Ryan] *smiles at them going back to reading his book*
[EJ] How's school going?
[Joey] School is awesome. I take some classes with my friend Lizzy. They keep me busy. But I have already been told I have a job when I finish. Tyler is opening a restaurant, so that will be a fun job.
[EJ] Well that's great. So you'll be his restaurant manager.
[Joey] *laughing* No, I will help him oversee things and maybe be the hostess. I don't think I want to be the manager. That was just the degree closest to what I needed. *smiling at him as she lays her head on his shoulder*

[EJ] Good book, Bella made me read it. What do you want to talk about now?
[Joey] *sighing* Anything and everything. You. Me. Anything.
[Ryan] *noticing the shift in Evan's demeanor and gets up* I'm going to go read in the library.
[Joey] *smiling* I will come get you when it's time to eat. *watching him walk away as she turns to look at Evan*
[EJ] *once Ryan closes the Library door he takes a deep breath* Why are we doing this Joey? I love you and you love me. You left me and I took you back without even a thought. Why is it different this time?
[Joey] I left because I thought my dad was sick. Had I known it was my mother being hateful, I would've stayed here with you. But, when you left me I was in emotional hell. My sister was missing. I was convincing my nephew that she was okay, yet crying inside because I didn't know if that was the truth. When you came and said good bye it felt like forever. It hurt me deep, deeper then you can imagine. You were distant before that, and part of me thought this was your way of just walking away from us. *crying in his arms* Why did you have to leave me then.
[EJ] *wraps his arms around her* Cause I was stupid and scared. I felt useless and helpless and I just needed to step back for a bit. It was a mistake. Had I known what I do now. I'm sorry Joey.
[Joey] I think had you stayed everything would be different. And, I really don't hate you for going. I just didn't know that your leaving would hurt so bad. I thought I was stronger, but I wasn't. Now there is Andy. I don't love him, but I like him a lot. Not that you want to know that.
[EJ] *closes his eyes* So what am I supposed to do here Joey? Do I fight for you and try to prove I'll never leave again? Or do I let you go and be happy with the friendship you are offering me? Cause I've done that before but I'm not sure I want to do that again. I love you. I thought I loved Bella before and I do but it's different. I've never loved her in the same way as I love you!
[Joey] *looking at him and for the first time not knowing what to say, she just stares at him* I don't know. I mean I really don't know. I would love to have you fight for me, but then that is mean. Because there is Andy. Why is this so hard for us. I just wish I had an answer for you. But I really don't. All I can say is listen to your heart. It doesn't tend to lead us in the wrong direction very often.
[EJ] *takes her face in his hand and kisses her*
[Joey] *feeling him kiss her and just letting it happen, even as her head screams at her. as she pulls away she looks at him* Your heart told you to kiss me? *patting his chest* Silly heart, you were supposed to be a bit more helpful. *smiling at him*
[EJ] *puts his hand over hers still on his chest* My heart told me to go after what I want. And what I want is you. I love you Joey. Give me the chance to prove I'll never hurt you again.
[Joey] *looking at him and smiling* So, you finally figured out what you wanted? I can't promise anything one way or the other, but I am glad you told me that. *fixing his hair* Give me some time okay. Cause it's Andy's heart now too. He deserves the same respect I give you.
[EJ] Joey I knew what I wanted when I spoke to you on the im that day. I knew what I wanted when I saw you at the airport. I've known that I wanted you back from the moment I left. I'll give you time, because I have to and you deserve time to figure out what your heart wants as well. If it's not me... Well I'll figure it out if it comes to that.
[Joey] *hearing the timer go off she jumps off the couch and heads to the kitchen, adding some cheese on the top before sticking it back in to cook a few more minutes, watching EJ walk in she looks at him* You do realize I will have to tell Andy we kissed?
[EJ] *shrugs* I do. And I'm sure he'll want to hit me. He won't be the first guy to punch me for kissing his girl. *smiles at him*
[Joey] *shaking her head* Well I guess that is one way to look at it. *starting the dishes and keeping busy for a few minutes* Hey Evan, will you take the dish out of the oven. I am pretty sure it is done now.
[EJ] *pulls the dish out of the oven setting it on the stove* What else should I do then? *walks over and start to help her with the dishes*
[Joey] We have to let it cool a bit before we cut it, so we can finish these dishes and then set the table. By then it should be perfect. *splashing soap at him and giggling* Sorry, bad habit.
[EJ] *chuckles* You like throwing stuff on me. *splashes some water at her* Okay we better stop before we soak the kitchen.
[Joey] *nodding and laughing* Yeah I don't want Ryan to get mad. He likes me, and I would feel a little bad about blaming you for any mess.
[EJ] *laughs* I'd get blamed for it anyway.
[Joey] *giggling* True. *making small talk as they finish the dishes, and set the table* I will go get Ryan so you guys can eat. I should get home. Call me later okay? *hugging him*
[EJ] *hugs her and kisses the top of her head* I'll definitely call you later. You can call me anytime too you know.
[Joey] I know. I suck at that. I don't really call anyone these days besides daddy. And that's pretty much because I have check in with him. He worries about me. *walking in and getting Ryan* Hey, don't want to bug you but the food is ready. *smiling and walking back to EJ* I will call you later. *hugging him one more time* Enjoy your food. *smiling and waving as she walks out of the house* Bye Evan.
